The San Isabel Foundation

The San Isabel Foundation is a non-profit land trust whose purpose is to provide a local resource or partner for land owners in order to facilitate the preservation of ranch land, open space and other natural resources now and for future generations.

To the west are the magnificent Sangre de Cristo Mountains, to the north the Arkansas River, to the south, the revered Spanish Peaks, and to the east, the place where mountains meet plains. Several tools utilized in assisting landowners may include conservation easements, land counseling and conservation buyer programs.

To date, the Foundation has protected over 3,300 acres through conservation easements in Custer and Huerfano Counties, and hold title to the Wheeler Nature Preserve.

The Foundation's major funding sources come through memberships, private donations and the Annual Art for the Sangres show and sale. This year's sale is scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd, 2001 at the historic Pines Ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado.
